Recycling Industry Mission to Canada

Project description

Canada's reorientation towards climate protection and the decarbonization of the economy offers long-term potential for investments and business activities by German companies in the waste and recycling sector. By 2030, the total amount of waste generated per person in Canada is to be reduced by 50%, and by 2050 it should be 80%. Under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), the right to a healthy environment was recognized for the first time in a federal law. Canada offers attractive conditions as a test market for market development in the USA. The EU-Canada Economic and Trade Agreement (#CETA), which came into force in 2017, enables significantly easier trading conditions. Canada therefore offers very good business opportunities for German companies in the waste and recycling industry. Technologies in the areas of "waste to power" - energy generation from waste, conversion into green fuels and hydrogen, plastic shredders, waste incineration - are particularly in demand, e-waste/electrical recycling, but also transportation solutions such as trucks and autonomous vehicles for the recycling industry.
